Liverpool forward Diogo Jota died in a car crash in Spain on Thursday.
Gatekeepers News reports that the 28-year-old Portuguese international was travelling with his 26-year-old brother, Andre Silva, when their vehicle went off the road in Zamora, Spain, and caught fire.
According to the Spanish news agency EFE, the accident occurred around 12:40 a.m. local time on the Rias Bajas Highway (A-52) near Palacios de Sanabria. Both Diogo Jota and his brother succumbed to their injuries.
Jota recently celebrated his wedding with long-term partner Rute Cardoso, just 10 days before the tragic incident. The couple shared photos from their special day on social media, expressing their joy and commitment to each other.
