On Thursday, a building collapsed, resulting in the rescue of at least four occupants who were subsequently transported to the hospital.
Gatekeepers News reports that Gbenga Omotoso, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information, confirmed the incident through a Facebook post, stating that the cause of the collapse has not yet been established.
“A three-storey building has collapsed on Lagos Island,” Omotoso said.
“It is not yet clear why 2/4, Asesi Lane, Sasi Lane, (SASI Palace), Adeniji Adele Road went down. Four persons have been rescued from the rubble. They have been taken to hospital.”
Several agencies are actively involved in the response efforts, including the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Corps (LNSC), the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and the police.
Omotoso noted that rescue operations are ongoing, with officials assessing whether additional individuals may be trapped under the rubble.
