Niger Delta Women Group Condemns Agenebode Seminary Attack – Demands Swift Action

A group named ‘Daughters of Niger Delta’ has expressed deep sorrow over the deadly attack on the Immaculate Conception Seminary in Ivianokpodi, Agenebode, Edo State, which occurred on the night of July 9.

Gatekeepers News reports that the group did this in a condolence statement co signed by Omuwa Patience Shelu Afebu, its president; Pastor Abieyuwa Allen, its Vice President; Mrs. Blossom Omono Orovwuje, its National Secretary; and Omoyemen Evelyn Okeke, its National PRO on Saturday.

The group mourned the killing of an officer of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the injury of a local vigilante member, and the abduction of three seminarians during the attack.

The women-led advocacy group described the incident as a direct assault on faith, learning, and the peace of their communities, adding that it strikes at the heart of communal security and religious freedom.

It said, “ These are not just statistics-they are sons, brothers, and futures stolen from us too soon.”

The group called on security agencies and relevant authorities to work swiftly to secure the safe release of the abducted seminarians, ensure justice for the fallen officer, and bolster protection for vulnerable religious and educational institutions across the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large.

Daughters of Niger Delta offered words of comfort to the people of Agenebode, the bereaved family, and the Catholic community.

It concluded, “May the soul of the departed rest in peace, and may our land know peace once again.”

“We will not be silent until every daughter and son of our land can live without fear.”
