Gunmen Kill 27 Farmers During Attack On Plateau Community

At least 27 farmers, including men and women, were killed in an attack by gunmen on Bindi-Jebbu in Tahoss community, Riyom LGA, Plateau state on Monday.

Gatekeepers News reports that many other people were injured and rushed to hospitals, including Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) and Plateau Hospital.

Dalyop Solomon, the National President of the Berom Youth Moulders (BYM), blamed the attack on suspected Fulani militia, alleging that the assault was part of an ongoing pattern of targeted violence in the area.

When contacted, Alfred Alabo, spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command, confirmed the incident and noted that a detailed statement would be released soon.

In a phone call with TheCable, Alfred Alabo, spokesperson of the police command, said the security agency will release a comprehensive statement about the incident very soon.

Meanwhile, the attack adds to the growing insecurity challenges in Plateau, raising concerns over the safety of rural communities in the state.
