Head of Civil Service (HOS) of Borno State, Dr Muhammad Ghuluze on Thursday announced that the State government will soon roll out the Civil Servants Health and Wellness Scheme to ensure all workers are fit to discharge their responsibilities effectively

Gatekeepers News reports that Dr Ghuluze called on his colleagues to re-dedicate themselves to their duties, be disciplined, and embrace innovation.

The HOS announced during a press conference to mark the 2025 Civil Service Week with the theme “Revitalizing Public Service for a Secure, Inclusive and Digital Future” held at the Musa Usman Secretariat, Maiduguri, the state capital.

According to Dr. Ghuluze, state civil servants must be fit and healthy to effectively manage governance.

“The serving civil servants are our targets, we want to ensure that we introduce activities such as monthly jogging, football competitions, and recreational sports activities. The Wellness Scheme will ensure fitness for all civil servants,” Dr. Ghuluze said.

The state Head of Service added that additional space would be created for all retired civil servants who are willing to participate in the exercise.

Dr Ghuluze also revealed that the state government will “launch the 2025 Borno State Civil Service Innovation Award, Establishment of a Civil Service Reform Monitoring and Taskforce Committees.”

He highlighted the achievements under his leadership to include ” the conduct of promotion exams., Digitization drives some key MDAS. Capacity building, a significant number of Civil Servants received training in ICT, Financial regulations, ethics, and leadership.

“We streamlined pension documentation and reduced processing delays by over 60%. Welfare improvements:
Civil Servants received a new minimum wage pay, all processes for the commencement of the Public Sector Health Insurance Scheme to ease the out-of-pocket healthcare financing syndrome among the Civil Servants have been
completed.”
