American rapper Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., popularly known as Snoop Dogg, has joined the ownership group of Swansea City Football Club.
Gatekeepers News reports that the UK Championship club revealed the partnership in a recent Instagram post.
The 53-year-old rapper expressed excitement about the move, describing it as a natural extension of his long-standing passion for soccer.
He said, “ For many years, I have been associated with soccer. You have probably seen me in (different) kits. I have worn a lot of kits in my life. But now I am at a point in my life that I am trying to find the kit that fits. The kit with the hit.”
“You know what I am trying to talk about. One team that feels like me. I am talking about Swansea City. I am not a player. I am an owner. We are coming to a hood near you.”
With this move, Snoop joins a growing list of global celebrities investing in football, including Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney (Wrexham AFC), Michael B. Jordan (AFC Bournemouth), Tom Brady (Birmingham City), and Natalie Portman (Angel City FC).
Recall that Nigerian singer Tems also recently became a co-owner of San Diego FC in the U.S. Major League Soccer.
