Ayiri Emami, a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, has criticised state Governor for poor governance despite the significant increase in monthly allocations from Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC).
Gatekeepers News reports that speaking to journalists over the weekend in Abuja, Emami noted that since the removal of the fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu, states have seen a boost in revenue.
However, he lamented that the additional funds have not translated into meaningful development or improved welfare for citizens.
According to Emami, Nigerians should direct their scrutiny and demands for accountability more towards state governments rather than placing the entire burden on the federal government.
The politician advised President Tinubu to pay closer attention to state-level governance.
He said, “If the federal government has taken off the subsidy and the money is being paid to the state government, the states are supposed to look after the needs of their people.”
“But I think the state governors don’t care, so everybody now focuses on the federal government.”
“ I would suggest that the president put an eye on what is going on in each of the states, since the allocation is being adequately sent back home to the state government.”
“I don’t think the state governments are doing enough. It’s not by doing bridges but without welfare, there will be hunger, so how do I ply the road, and that’s exactly what’s going on.”
“Now everybody will be shouting Tinubu. They don’t care how people feel. So, most of this blame is supposed to be channelled to the state governments.”
The APC chieftain also urged President Tinubu to consider reshuffling his cabinet, saying that only five ministers are truly committed to their duties.
