Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced that domestic airlines refunded over N1 billion to 5,285 passengers between April and June 2025.
Gatekeepers News reports that the refunds totalled N1,038,505,680.80.
The NCAA made the announcement via its X handle, highlighting its efforts to protect consumers. The authority has been working to ensure that airlines comply with regulations regarding ticket refunds.
In September 2024, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, inaugurated the NCAA’s consumer protection portal to address ticket refund issues within 24 hours. The NCAA has also sanctioned several airlines for violating regulations, including failure to refund passengers within the stipulated time frame.
Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, said ticket refund compliance remains a key pillar of the agency’s consumer protection agenda.
The NCAA continues to monitor airlines’ compliance with regulations and protect the rights of passengers.
