Chinese Embassy in Nigeria has launched an investigation into claims that a Chinese mining firm abandoned a group of Nigerian miners in Central African Republic (CAR).
Gatekeepers News reports that this follows public outrage sparked by a viral video circulating online, which shows Nigerian miners stranded and reportedly neglected by their Chinese employer in CAR.
In a statement, the embassy noted that it is taking the situation seriously and has already initiated an investigation to clarify the circumstances.
It reads, “ The Chinese government consistently mandates that all Chinese enterprises and citizens operating abroad strictly comply with local laws and regulations, ensuring all business operations fully adhere to local legal frameworks.”
“The Chinese side will urge the involved companies to address this matter appropriately, maintain close communication with Nigerian authorities throughout the investigation, and work together to safeguard the lawful rights and interests of citizens of both nations.”
