A political support group, South East Renewed Hope Agenda (SERHA), has allocated N200 million to fund President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of 2027 general election.
Gatekeepers News reports that the funds will be used to purchase All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential nomination form and cover campaign logistics.
The announcement was made on Saturday during the inauguration and empowerment event of SERHA’s Imo State chapter, held in Owerri.
Belusochukwu Enwere, the group’s national coordinator, reaffirmed SERHA’s dedication to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stating that efforts to mobilise grassroots support across South-East were already in full gear.
He said, “As ambassadors of Renewed Hope, we are tasked with working tirelessly towards the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.”
“Today, we present a cheque of N200 million for the purchase of the presidential nomination form and associated logistics.”
He praised Tinubu as a “performing president,” noting his administration’s emphasis on infrastructure, education, and inclusive governance in the region.
Enwere said the federal government’s $3 billion Eastern Rail Line project is a transformational initiative, calling it the most significant infrastructure investment in the South-East.
The national coordinator noted the rail line would enhance trade, lower transport costs, and help tackle the region’s historical marginalisation.
He also applauded the creation of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), which he said would tackle regional challenges such as erosion control, road development, and other pressing needs.
Enweere paid homage to Imo’s iconic leaders, including late Sam Mbakwe and Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, while also commending Governor Hope Uzodinma for his contributions to the state’s development.
As part of the event, empowerment items including motorcycles, minibuses, sewing machines, hairdressing kits, and cash were distributed to residents.
Enwere announced that the group would begin a grassroots mobilisation tour across all 95 local government areas and 2,344 wards in the five South-East states starting in August.
He urged the people of the South-East to rally behind the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration as a pathway to sustainable development.
