President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to confer national honours on 210 former members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Gatekeepers News reports that this is in recognition of their exemplary performance and bravery during service.
The award ceremony, known as the ‘President’s NYSC Honours Award’, is scheduled to take place on July 29 at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
According to a statement by Emeka Rems Mgbemena, spokesperson for the NYSC, 200 of the honorees served between 2020 and 2023 and distinguished themselves through excellence across the NYSC’s four core areas, orientation, primary assignment, community development service, and their passing-out activities.
Additionally, 10 other former corps members will be recognised under the NYSC Hope Alive Initiative for showing exceptional courage despite sustaining permanent disabilities during their service.
The event will be hosted by the Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, alongside NYSC Director General Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu and senior officials of the corps.
The NYSC management extended a warm welcome to all award beneficiaries and guests attending the occasion.
