FG Launches ₦10 Million Support Fund For Tertiary Institution Staff

Federal Government has introduced Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF), a welfare loan scheme designed to provide up to ₦10 million in financial assistance to eligible staff in Nigeria’s universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

Gatekeepers News reports that the initiative was unveiled during a stakeholder engagement session held in Abuja.

It is aimed at improving the financial well-being, living standards, and career growth of both academic and non-academic staff in tertiary institutions.

According to Federal Ministry of Education, the scheme will allow eligible staff to access loans capped at 33.3% of their gross annual salary.

These funds can be used for personal welfare needs such as transportation, medical care, and small-scale business ventures, including poultry farming.

The programme is part of the government’s broader strategy to reform the education sector and aligns with the goals of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

It is being implemented in collaboration with the Bank of Industry, which will oversee the loan disbursement to ensure transparency and accountability.

Key participants at the launch including representatives from TETFund, university vice chancellors, rectors, and provosts, welcomed the initiative, describing it as a critical step towards boosting staff motivation and institutional productivity.

Ministry of Education reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth rollout and long-term success of the TISSF.
