Devastating train crash occurred in south-west Germany on Sunday, leaving three people dead and 41 injured.

Gatekeepers News reports that the incident happened near Stuttgart when a landslide caused by an overflowing sewage shaft derailed a passenger train. The train, carrying around 100 people, was on a 90 km route between Sigmaringen and Ulm when the crash occurred.

According to local authorities, the train driver, a rail employee, and one passenger died in the crash. Chancellor Friedrich Merz expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, stating, “I mourn the victims and offer my deepest sympathy to their families.”

Operator Deutsche Bahn expressed its sympathies to the victims and those affected by the crash, saying, “Our thoughts and sympathies are with the victims and everyone who now has to process this experience.”

The crash occurred after heavy rainfall in the area, which is believed to have caused the sewage shaft to overflow, triggering the landslide.
