Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has appointed Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello as the new Emir and Sarkin Katsina of the Gusau Emirate.
Gatekeepers News reports that the appointment follows the passing of his father, the late His Royal Highness Ibrahim Bello, who served as the Emir for a decade before his death on July 25, 2025.
Alhaji Abdulkadir becomes the 16th Emir of the Gusau Emirate Council, receiving his position based on the traditional recommendations of the kingmakers in the Gusau Emirate, in accordance with established customs and laws.
Prior to his appointment, he held the esteemed title of Bunun Gusau and is recognized as the eldest son of the late monarch.
In his congratulatory message, Governor Lawal emphasised the importance of upholding the noble legacy of the Emir’s ancestors, particularly as a descendant of Malam Sambo Dan Ashafa.
He encouraged the new Emir to serve as a symbol of unity, peace, and development, promoting harmonious coexistence within the Gusau Emirate and beyond.
