Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen. Christopher Musa has said the armed forces are reviewing their operational plans to tackle the growing insecurity in Plateau State and other areas under Operation Safe Haven.
Gatekeepers News reports that during a Friday visit to the operation’s headquarters in Jos, Musa told commanders the military is adjusting its approach to meet the asymmetric threats in the region.
He urged traditional and community leaders to discourage youths from harbouring criminal elements and warned that field commanders would be held responsible for any lapses. Musa also pledged better logistical support for troops.
Maj. Gen. Eyitayo Oyinlola, Commander of Operation Safe Haven and General Officer Commanding 3 Division, outlined recent successes and emphasised stronger inter-agency cooperation and an expanded intelligence network to protect at-risk communities.
The CDS later inspected the Nigerian Army Medical Centre in Tigi and Sector 6 at Jebbu Bindi, Riyom LGA, promising upgrades to medical services for soldiers and civilians.
Musa’s tour follows a recent attack near Chirang village in Bokkos LGA, where suspected bandits killed 14 people.
