Justine Madugu, head coach of Nigeria’s Super Falcons, has been nominated for 2025 Ballon d’Or award for Best Women’s Coach.
Gatekeepers News reports that goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie also earned a spot on the shortlist for the prestigious Yacine Trophy for Best Women’s Goalkeeper.
The nominations were announced on Thursday by France Football Magazine, organisers of the Ballon d’Or, through a series of posts on their official X (formerly Twitter) account.
Other coaches nominated for Best Women’s Coach are Sarina Wiegman (England), Renée Slegers (Arsenal Women), Sonia Bompastor (Chelsea Women), and Arthur Elias (Brazil Women).
Her nomination follows a historic achievement in July, where he guided the Super Falcons to their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco. He was also named Coach of the Tournament at WAFCON 2025.
Meanwhile, Nnadozie is competing for the Best Goalkeeper award with other standout talents including Ann-Katrin Berger, Cata Coll, Hannah Hampton, and Daphne van Domselaar.
The 24-year-old Nigerian earned widespread praise for her stellar performance during WAFCON, recording four clean sheets out of six matches. She won the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award twice.
