Nigerian music superstar Tiwa Savage has shared her candid thoughts on love, revealing that she has never experienced true love, except for the bond she shares with her son, Jamil.
Gatekeepers News reports that in an interview with Zeze Mills, the 45-year-old singer reflected on her past relationships, admitting that what she once believed was love may have been “mere infatuation”.
“I don’t think I’ve experienced true love apart from my son,” Savage said.
“Because every time I look back at all my relationships, I’m like, nah, that wasn’t love. I was just infatuated. At that time, I thought I was in love. I don’t think I experienced true love even when I was married.”
Savage questioned whether love was ever meant for her, given her repeated attempts to find it. “Maybe love isn’t for me because I have tried over and over again, so maybe love isn’t for me this lifetime,” she added.
The singer’s comments come after she opened up about her divorce from Tunji ‘TeeBillz’ Balogun, her ex-husband, in December last year.
The duo, who married in 2013, divorced in 2018 after efforts to resolve their differences proved abortive. Savage had claimed her ex-husband was responsible for the divorce, citing her struggles with postpartum depression after giving birth to their son.
