Ranchers Bees FC of Kaduna has been acquired by Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar and lawmaker Bello El-Rufai.
Gatekeepers News reports that the duo has acquired the ownership rights of the club, which was founded in the 1970s and has a rich history in Nigerian football.
Ranchers Bees FC, which was once a powerhouse in northern Nigeria, has been struggling in the lower division of the Nigerian domestic football ladder. However, Umar and El-Rufai are determined to restore the club to its former glory.
“Growing up, I watched Rancher Bees of Kaduna, a club that produced countless players. It’s a thing of pride and joy for us to be the bona fide owners of the club,” Umar said in a statement.
The Super Eagles striker added that he and his partner want to return the club to its old glory days and promote it back to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
“We will bring back the old memories of the club and return the fans to the stadium,” Umar vowed.
El-Rufai, who is the son of former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, is a lawmaker representing Kaduna North constituency at the House of Representatives.
