Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) reported that Nigeria’s average daily crude oil production reached 1.50 million barrels per day (bpd) in July.

Gatekeepers Newreports that in its latest monthly report, released on Tuesday, OPEC noted that this level of production aligned with Nigeria’s assigned quota.

Specifically, Nigeria’s oil output rose to 1.507 million bpd, marking a 0.13 percent increase from the previous month’s production of 1.505 million bpd. This is also the highest level of output the country has achieved since January.

This achievement signifies that Nigeria has met OPEC’s production quota of 1.5 million bpd for the third time in 2025. OPEC’s figures are based on direct communications with Nigerian authorities, reaffirming their reliability.

OPEC typically gathers crude oil output data from two main sources: direct reports from member countries and secondary sources, such as energy intelligence platforms.

With the current production figures, Nigeria continues to hold its position as Africa’s leading oil producer, followed by Algeria, which recorded an output of 1.37 million bpd.

OPEC cited that total DoC crude oil production averaged 41.94 mb/d in June 2025, reflecting a month-on-month increase of 335 tb/d.
