David Mark, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Senate President, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that the upcoming nationwide bye-elections are conducted with fairness, transparency, and integrity.

Gatekeepers Newreports that he emphasised that failing to do so could further diminish public trust in the electoral process.

In his goodwill message directed at ADC candidates running for Senate, House of Representatives, and State Houses of Assembly positions across 10 states, Senator Mark highlighted that “all eyes are on the commission.” He urged INEC to address and rectify the issues and controversies that have plagued previous elections..

Special Adviser on Media to the former Senate President, Paul Mumeh, in a statement, quoted him as indicating: “These elections are an opportunity for INEC to redeem its image and prove that the will of the people can prevail without manipulation or intimidation.”

The ADC will be on the ballot in bye-elections across Anambra, Edo, Oyo, Taraba, Adamawa, Kaduna, Zamfara, Kano, Niger, and Ogun States.

Describing the party as a “child of necessity” born from Nigerians’ yearning for genuine change, Mark appealed to voters to give the ADC a chance to deliver better governance.

He praised the courage and dedication of ADC candidates, urging them to adhere to electoral laws while remaining vigilant against any form of malpractice.

The former Senate President also tasked security agencies with creating a level playing field for all parties, insisting that their role is to protect the process, not tilt it.

“Let the votes count. Let the people decide. That is the true test of democracy,” Mark declared.
