More than 100 suspected political thugs have been arrested during the by-election in Bagwai Local Government Area of Kano State.
Gatekeepers News reports that according to reports, the suspects, who were allegedly armed, were arrested while attempting to disrupt voting activities in the Bagwai/Shanono federal constituency.
Their arrest followed the intervention of security operatives deployed to monitor the election and maintain order.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) confirmed that the swift response of security agencies helped to restore calm in polling units where disruptions had occurred.
Despite the incident, electoral officers were able to distribute voting materials across all designated polling units. However, some areas experienced delays in the commencement of voting, which started between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., due to the earlier disturbances and logistical challenges.
