APC’s Elegbeji Emerges Winner Of Ogun Remo By-Election

Adesola Elegbeji, All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate has been declared winner of the Remo Federal Constituency by-election in Ogun State.

Gatekeepers News reports that the election was held to fill the seat left vacant following the death of Adewunmi Onanuga, who represented the constituency in two consecutive assemblies.

Announcing the results on Sunday, Returning Officer Kazeem Bello said Elegbeji polled 41,237 votes to defeat Bolarinwa Oluwole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 14,324 votes.

A breakdown of the results showed that in Ikenne Local Government, APC scored 10,227 votes against PDP’s 5,595. In Remo North, APC recorded 8,053 votes while PDP had 992. At Sagamu, APC garnered 22,958 votes compared to PDP’s 7,737.

Until her passing, Onanuga served as the Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives in the 10th Assembly and had previously chaired the House Committee on Women’s Affairs and Social Development in the 9th Assembly.
