Nigeria’s men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, has advanced to quarter-finals of the ongoing 2025 Afrobasket tournament in Angola after a hard-fought 99-90 victory over Cameroon on Sunday.
Gatekeepers News reports that the win marked D’Tigers’ third straight triumph in Group B, following earlier victories over Madagascar and defending champions Tunisia, securing the team’s position at the top of the group standings.
Nigeria started strong and widened the gap in the second quarter, taking a commanding 58-41 lead into halftime. Their dominance continued into the third quarter, where they extended the score to 84-53.
Cameroon mounted a late comeback in the final quarter, reducing the deficit, but their rally fell short as D’Tigers held firm to seal the win.
With this result, Nigeria now awaits its next challenge in the quarter-finals, where it will face the winner of the qualifier between Senegal and South Sudan on Wednesday.
