The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has begun the Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, beginning with an online pre-registration phase.

Gatekeepers News reports that INEC announced this through a post on its official X account on Monday.

Eligible Nigerians can now register through the official portal, www.cvr.inecnigeria.org, ahead of the physical registration scheduled to start on August 25, 2025.

The in-person exercise will take place across INEC’s 37 state offices and 774 local government area (LGA) offices nationwide.

The CVR is open to citizens aged 18 and above who are registering for the first time, those seeking to collect or transfer their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and individuals needing replacements for lost or damaged PVCs.

INEC urged the public to avoid multiple registrations, stressing that offenders would be penalised.

The commission also encouraged eligible citizens to take advantage of the exercise, describing voter registration as essential to inclusive democratic participation.

For inquiries or assistance, members of the public can reach INEC via its call centre on 0700-CALL-INEC (0700-2255-4632) or short code 4632.

The commission reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy by ensuring that every eligible voter has access to registration ahead of future elections.
