Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on Thursday reacted to a viral poster claiming that Nollywood actress and entrepreneur Iyabo Ojo is wanted.
Gatekeepers News reports that the poster, which was circulated widely, suggested that a reward was being offered for information that could lead to her arrest.
However in a statement shared across social media platforms, the police described the poster as fake and misleading.
The statement read: “The Nigeria Police Force wishes to clarify that the recent Wanted Person Bulletin circulating about stating that the Nollywood Actress, Iyabo Ojo is wanted by the Office of The IGP Monitoring Unit is NOT an official communication from the Force.
“The Nigeria Police Force urges members of the public to verify information through official channels and be cautious of misinformation.”
The development follows allegations made by social media figure Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, who accused Iyabo Ojo and several others of attempting to frame singer and record label owner Naira Marley for the death of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba, commonly referred to as Mohbad.
