Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface will not be joining AC Milan as earlier expected, after the Serie A club reportedly pulled the plug on the deal due to medical concerns.
Gatekeepers News reports that the transfer had reached an advanced stage, with both sides reaching a verbal agreement for an initial €5 million loan and a mandatory €24 million buy option. Boniface had even flown to Milan to finalise the move.
However, according to respected transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, the deal collapsed after Milan’s medical team flagged an issue with the striker’s right knee.
Italian sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development in a post on X account on Sunday.
He wrote, “AC Milan call Victor Boniface deal off as Nigerian striker did not pass the medical tests.”
“Despite verbal agreement for €5m loan fee and €24m buy clause with player in Milano in the last 48h, deal called off due to medical. Boniface, returning in Germany today.”
With the collapse of the deal, Boniface will now return to his current club, Bayer Leverkusen.
