Ebonyi Raises Civil Servants’ Minimum Wage To 90k

Ebonyi State Government has approved a new minimum wage of ₦90,000 for all civil and public servants, representing an increase of ₦20,000 from the previous ₦70,000.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement released on Thursday by the Commissioner for Information, Ikeuwa Collins-Omebeh, and made available to Channels Television, the government confirmed that the wage increase takes effect immediately.

The decision followed deliberations at the State Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the New Government House in Abakaliki.

Omebeh explained that the increment aligns with Governor Francis Nwifuru’s People’s Charter of Needs Agenda, stressing that the move underscores the governor’s dedication to the welfare of the state’s workforce.

The council approved the creation of the Ebonyi State Virology Research and Innovative Centre, aimed at boosting the state’s capacity in research, diagnosis, viral disease surveillance, and public health training in line with global scientific developments.
