Federal Government has approved a new increase in the cost of obtaining Nigerian passports.
Gatekeepers News reports that the fees for 32-page, five-year booklet is now fixed at N100,000, while 64-page, 10-year booklet will cost N200,000.
According to Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the revised charges apply only to applications made within Nigeria and will take effect from September 1.
However, fees for passports processed abroad remain unchanged at $150 for the 32-page booklet and $230 for the 64-page booklet.
NIS explained that the adjustment is aimed at sustaining the quality and integrity of the Nigerian passport while ensuring wider accessibility for citizens.
This latest increase comes barely a year after a similar upward review in August 2024, when the fee for the 32-page passport was raised from N35,000 to N50,000, and the 64-page booklet moved from N70,000 to N100,000.
