EPL: Bruno’s Late Penalty Gives Man United First Win of the Season

A late penalty goal scored by Bruno Fernandes helped Manchester United beat Burnley 3-2 at Old Trafford on Saturday, securing their first win.

Gatekeepers News reports that the result came just days after United’s shocking Carabao Cup exit to fourth-tier Grimsby.

United took the lead twice through an own goal and a strike from Bryan Mbeumo, but Burnley fought back with goals from Lyle Foster and Jaidon Anthony to make it 2-2.

Jaiden Cullen’s own goal in the 27th minute put United ahead, but Foster equalised in the 55th. Mbeumo restored the lead two minutes later, only for Anthony to level in the 75th minute after poor defending.

The game seemed set for a draw until the dying moments, when Amad Diallo was pulled down in the box. Fernandes stepped up and calmly scored the penalty to give United a much-needed victory.

The win lifted United to ninth place on four points, while Burnley dropped to 11th with three points.

Tottenham suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 1-0 at home to Bournemouth. Everton, inspired by Jack Grealish, edged Wolves 3-2 away.
