A group of students from Fountain University, Osogbo, has earned a place at the grand finale of the NextGen Innovation Challenge in London, where they will represent Nigeria on the global stage.
Gatekeepers News reports that the team is led by Muadh Adekunle Monsuru, a computer science student, alongside his colleagues Bello Fawaz Babatunde and Abiola Awwal Olamide.
Their project, PQ-AI, is an artificial intelligence-powered educational platform designed to enhance students’ study preparation. The innovation aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4, which focuses on quality education.
The students’ journey began at the university’s 13th convocation ceremony, where they won the campus-level innovation challenge.
They later triumphed at the Osun State Innovation Challenge, organised by the state’s ministry of science and technology, before presenting their work to the minister of science, innovation, and technology. This paved the way for their shortlisting from over 3,000 global applicants.
Celebrating the milestone, Fountain University vice-chancellor, Olayinka Ramota Karim, described the team’s feat as proof of the institution’s vision.
She said, “Muadh and his teammates represent the best of Fountain University’s vision – to raise individuals who are not only academically sound but also equipped to solve real-world problems.”
“Their journey from the campus stage to the global stage is a testament to the talent we continue to nurture at Fountain University.”
The VC also acknowledged the role of the Centre for Research, Innovation and Technology, under the leadership of Dr. Rasheed Adebiyi, in supporting the students.
The NextGen Innovation Challenge is organised by the UK African Leadership Development (UKALD), in partnership with the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI).
