Dee One To Break World Record For Longest Stand-Up Comedy

Nigerian comedian, Dee One, has declared his intention to set a new Guinness World Record by attempting the longest stand-up comedy performance in history.

Gatekeepers News reports that the marathon event is scheduled to run from October 2 to October 4 at the Pallazzo Lagos in Opebi, Ikeja, where Dee One plans to deliver over 40 hours of uninterrupted comedy, storytelling, and entertainment.

Announcing the challenge in an Instagram post, Dee One explained that his motivation comes from a desire to push boundaries and inspire others.

He said, “There comes a time in every man’s life when he must test the limit of what is possible. Not just for himself, for his people, his craft, and generations watching. Comedy has always been more than laughter to me. It is healing, it’s connection, it’s power,”

The comedian added that the attempt is not only a personal dream but also a way of showing others that no ambition is unattainable.

He said, “Now I am taking the power to the stage the world cannot ignore. From the second, third, and fourth of October, I will be attempting the world record for the longest stand-up comedy performance the world has ever seen.”

“ Over 40 hours of non-stop laughter, storytelling and history in the making. This is not just my journey; it is about showing every dreamer that no stage is too big and no goal is too high.”

Reflecting on the significance of the feat, he noted that he draws inspiration from comedians past and present.

Hessjd, “ I may stand alone with the microphone when I carry the spirit of every legend that has done comedy before me and those who are presently doing everything possible to bring laughter to the world.”

“From the funny guy next door to the stand-up comedian, the skit-makers, the funny actor. I believe record are meant to be broken, but legends live forever.”

The current record stands at 40 hours, 16 minutes, and 48 seconds, set in April 2025 by American comedian Benny Elbows in Memphis, Tennessee.

Earlier this year, Nigerian entertainer Laff Ijuo also attempted a 50-hour comedy marathon.
