Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured Nigerians of intensified military operations against terrorists following the deadly attack on Darajamal community in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.

Gatekeepers Newreports that in a condolence message issued on Monday, Shettima expressed sympathy to the government and people of Borno State over the incident, which claimed the lives of both civilians and military personnel.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, the people of Borno State, and the Nigerian military over the tragic loss of our compatriots. These deaths have left the entire nation in collective grief, but we are confident that justice will be served for the bereaved families,” the Vice President said in the statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha.

Shettima reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s directive to the Armed Forces to review ongoing security operations. He noted that the federal government is “investing massively in military hardware,” including the acquisition of additional drones and surveillance equipment, to strengthen the fight against terrorism.

The Vice President also underscored the administration’s consideration of establishing state police, stressing that security challenges in some regions require “specialised units that understand local terrain, culture, and can effectively network at the grassroots level.”

Assuring continued federal support for Borno State and the affected families, Shettima expressed confidence in the Armed Forces’ ability to restore peace in the region.
