Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has applauded celebrity chef Hilda Baci for her Guinness World Record attempt at cooking the world’s largest pot of Jollof rice.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a post shared on his verified Instagram page on Saturday, Osinbajo described the effort as proof that greatness can emerge from the simplest of things.
The former VP wrote, “@hildabaci reminded us yesterday, that greatness can begin in the simplest of places, even in a pot of rice.”
“With imagination and courage, she turned Jollof, our beloved national treasure, into a story that carried Nigeria’s culture to the world.”
Osinbajo added that her attempt showcased food as more than just sustenance. He wrote, “In the scale of her effort and in the generosity of its sharing, she proved that food is never just food. It is memory, it is pride, it is identity served to the world on a single plate.”
“I commend Hilda for the brilliance of her idea, for the heart behind its execution, and for attempting a Guinness World Record for the Largest Pot of Jollof Rice ever in such a creative way.”
“She has shown us that creativity, like Jollof, is one of Nigeria’s greatest exports.”
Closing on a humorous note, the former VP referenced the popular “bottom pot” Jollof debate: He wrote, “Some may say I am a little biased, but you see that smoky Jollof at the bottom of the pot… that will always be the truth. Smoky Jollof fans, gather here. If you know, you know.”
Recall that Hilda Baci had previously set the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon in 2023.
