Amusan Wins Silver In 100m Hurdles At Tokyo World Championships

Nigeria’s world-record holder Tobi Amusan won silver in the women’s 100 metres hurdles final at 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo on Monday, finishing in 12.29 seconds.

Gatekeepers News reports that Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji won gold with a national record time of 12.24 seconds, narrowly beating Amusan.

American Grace Stark earned bronze in 12.34 seconds, while Olympic champion Masai Russell finished just off the podium in fourth place, clocking 12.44 seconds.

Earlier rounds saw Amusan cruise through the heats (winning her heat in 12.53 seconds) and semifinals (12.36 seconds) to qualify for the final.

Kambundji’s previous personal best was 12.40 seconds before today’s final. Her performance surprised many, as Amusan entered the race as the defending champion (2022) and strong favourite.

This silver adds to Amusan’s impressive résumé, which includes her world record of 12.12 seconds, set in 2022 in Eugene, multiple Diamond League titles, and other global honours.
