Annum Terhile Elected President Of Nigerian Youth Congress

Annum Terhile has been elected president of Nigerian Youth Congress (NYC).

Gatekeepers News reports that he was chosen at the group’s national convention held on Saturday in Abuja and was inaugurated along with other executive members by the board of trustees led by Yakubu Shendam.

In his acceptance speech, Terhile said he is ready to work with government agencies and the private sector to fight youth unemployment through skill training and empowerment.

He added that the NYC will focus on partnerships with government, private organisations, and international bodies to create lasting programmes that will equip young people with skills, resources, and opportunities to contribute to Nigeria’s economy.

Terhile noted that many youths face challenges such as unemployment, underemployment, and lack of opportunities to showcase their talents.

He pointed out that although youth unemployment recently dropped from 8.00% to 7.50%, more effort is still needed to address these issues.

According to him, an unempowered youth is not only a minus but a danger and threat to the country,” stressing the need for urgent solutions to what he called “the Nigerian youth question.

The NYC president promised to promote initiatives ranging from vocational training to tech innovation labs, agricultural projects, and entrepreneurship hubs to ensure all young Nigerians are included, regardless of tribe or religion.

Terhile further assured that under his leadership, NYC will not just create jobs but also nurture job creators, since the country’s future depends on its youth.

He said, “To the teeming Nigerian youths, this is your congress. Your dreams, your struggles, and your aspirations will shape our journey. I promise an inclusive platform where your voices will be heard, your ideas will be valued, and your potential will be unleashed.”

“To my fellow leaders, stakeholders, and partners, I extend a hand of collaboration. Let us unite in building a Nigeria where no youth is left behind, where every young person has the tools to succeed, and where our collective energy transforms challenges into opportunities.”
