Dangote Refinery Sends First Petrol Shipment To US

Dangote refinery has delivered its first petrol cargo to the United States.

Gatekeepers News reports that officials at the refinery revealed that the vessel was sent to the US about two weeks ago.

Data from MyShipTracking, a vessel monitoring platform, showed that the tanker Gemini Pearl arrived in New York on Monday, based on its automatic identification system (AIS).

On Tuesday, Reuters reported that Vitol, a global oil trading firm, and Sunoco, a North American fuel distributor, received the first batch of US-bound petrol from the refinery.

According to the report, the Gemini Pearl discharged its load on Monday at Sunoco’s Linden terminal in New York Harbor.

Reuters added that Vitol bought the cargo, about 320,000 barrels of petrol, from Mocoh Oil, a Switzerland-based company, and resold most of it to Sunoco. However, it noted that it was unclear what volume Vitol sold to Sunoco and how much it will keep.

The report also disclosed that a second shipment, sold by Glencore to Shell, is aboard the tanker MH Daisen and is expected in New York Harbor on September 19.

A third cargo, purchased by Vitol from Mocoh, is being carried by the vessel Seaexplorer and is scheduled to arrive around September 22.
