Nigerian chef, Damilola Adeparusi, popularly known as Chef Dammy, has refuted rumours that she is preparing to break Guinness World Record (GWR) for the largest pot of beans.
Gatekeepers News reports that this comes shortly after Hilda Baci was officially recognised by GWR for cooking the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice.
The speculation arose because she had previously attempted a cook-a-thon similar to the one Hilda undertook, leading many to assume she might also stage a record attempt with beans after the two-time record holder’s recognition for jollof rice.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Dammy described the reports as false, stressing that such a project is impossible.
She said, “I am actually making this video because people have been asking me where I was in the kitchen, that ‘Chef Dammy are you truly cooking beans?’ No, why would I do that?”
The chef went further to congratulate Hilda Baci and her sponsors, calling the jollof rice achievement a shared victory for the region.
She said, “I want to say a very big congratulations to Miss Hilda for the just concluded project of cooking the biggest pot of jollof rice to feed thousands of people. Imagine cooking in a very big pot to feed thousands.”
“Congratulations to Nigerians as a whole too because this is a win for everybody; to all West African countries. Congratulations and thank you to Gino for sponsoring this event.”
Dammy added that while she had already sent a private congratulatory message to Baci, she felt it necessary to publicly celebrate the milestone.
