Security Officers Protest At Rivers Government House – Accuse Administrator Ibas Of Looting

Security personnel at Rivers State Government House on Wednesday protested, accusing outgoing sole administrator Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas (rtd) of trying to abscond with state wealth as his administration comes to a close.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a video obtained by SaharaReporters, officers chanted, “We are not doing again, we are tired. Hard labour, suffering. For what?”

They alleged that while Ibas is preparing to step down following the return of democratic leadership, he is leaving them empty-handed and abandoning them to hardship.

Recall that Ibas was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on March 18 to serve as sole administrator of Rivers State for six months amid political tension between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and former Governor Nyesom Wike. His mandate officially ends today, restoring democracy.

At this time, no formal statement from Ibas’s office has addressed the allegations.
