Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has pledged to work harmoniously with the State House of Assembly to fast-track the state’s development after months of political crisis.

Gatekeepers Newreports that in a statewide broadcast on Friday, Fubara described the recently lifted emergency rule as “one of the most challenging moments for the state” and said his decision not to contest the presidential declaration was based on the conviction that “no sacrifice was too great for peace in Rivers State.”

“The President graciously brokered peace during this period, and we all accepted it, though not without the hard lessons learnt during the emergency rule,” the governor said.

He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for what he called a “fatherly intervention” that restored democratic governance in the state, and acknowledged the role of his political leader, former governor Nyesom Wike, as well as the leadership of the National Assembly and other stakeholders.

Fubara assured his supporters that “not everything is irretrievably lost,” stressing that opportunities for inclusiveness and reconciliation remain. “The costly peace is cheaper than the cheapest war,” he added, urging Rivers people to embrace unity and cooperation.

The governor highlighted his administration’s earlier achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and other key sectors, promising to resume funding ongoing projects. He also reiterated his readiness to collaborate with the House of Assembly in the interest of the state.

“As your Governor, I commit to working harmoniously with the Rivers State House of Assembly to recover lost ground and accelerate the social and economic advancement of our dear State,” Fubara said, thanking Rivers people for their resilience and peaceful conduct during the emergency rule.
