2 Brazil Returnees Excrete 116 Wraps Of Drugs In NDLEA Custody

Two Nigerians who recently returned from Brazil excreted a total of 116 wraps of heroin and cocaine while under observatory custody of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Gatekeepers News reports that Femi Babafemi, NDLEA spokesperson, identified the suspects as Ofoma Sunday and Ukachukwu Ikechukwu, arrested at Lagos airport on separate occasions.

Ofoma, 46, was caught on September 16 after a body scan confirmed ingestion of illicit substances. He later expelled 111 wraps of heroin weighing 1.45kg. A follow-up sting at an Amuwo Odofin hotel led to the arrest of Nweke Chukwudi, 55, who was to oversee recovery of the drugs.

Ikechukwu was arrested three days later during inward clearance of Ethiopian Airlines passengers. A body scan confirmed drug ingestion, and he eventually excreted five wraps of cocaine weighing 145g. He confessed to buying nine wraps in Brazil but expelled some mid-journey due to severe pain.

The agency also arrested Okolonkwo Ebere Theresa, a businesswoman, after aviation security found 1.40kg of methamphetamine hidden in her underwear at Lagos airport.

Further seizures across Lagos, Adamawa, Taraba, Yobe, and Edo states yielded cocaine in phone chargers, 233,800 tramadol pills, over a tonne of cannabis, and destroyed 4.53 hectares of cannabis farms.
