The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, will on Monday, September 29, administer the oath of office to 57 newly appointed Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) at the Supreme Court in Abuja.

Gatekeepers News reports that the ceremony, scheduled for the main courtroom of the apex court, will also mark the official opening of the 2025/2026 legal year, following the court’s annual recess which began on July 21.

In a statement, Supreme Court spokesperson Festus Akande said the CJN will deliver the customary state-of-the-judiciary address, reviewing the past year’s performance, challenges, and priorities for reform in the new legal year.

Dignitaries expected include Attorney-General of the Federation Lateef Fagbemi, the president of the Nigerian Bar Association, Yakubu Maikyau, and the chairman of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN).
