Ogun State Police Command has taken into custody a man identified as Fatai Quadri after a viral video allegedly showed him assaulting his wife, Rukayat, in Ilese-Ijebu.

Gatekeepers News reports that confirming the development in a statement on Saturday, CSP Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the command, said the incident occurred on Monday.

The footage reportedly captured Quadri repeatedly striking his wife with his fists, leaving her with visible injuries.

Odutola said, “Operatives of Igbeba Divisional Police Headquarters, Ijebu Ode, promptly responded and arrested the suspect.”

She added that preliminary findings indicate the attack stemmed from a marital dispute tied to allegations of infidelity.

According to her, Quadri allegedly transferred ownership of a jointly built 10-room en-suite apartment to another woman, a move that reportedly triggered the violent confrontation.

She added, “The victim is currently receiving medical attention, and the suspect remains in custody. He will face charges upon the conclusion of investigations.”

Lanre Ogunlowo, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, condemned the act, reaffirming the command’s zero-tolerance policy on domestic violence.

The CP said, “Our position is clear: domestic violence will not be tolerated. Offenders will face the full weight of the law.”

He further encouraged residents, particularly survivors of abuse, to speak out, noting that silence only empowers perpetrators, but timely reporting ensures protection and justice.
