National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has approved a reduction of about N200,000 in the fares for the 2026 pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia.
Gatekeepers News reports that the decision was reached after consultations with stakeholders, including the forum of states leadership, and was endorsed by the federal government.
Under the new arrangement, intending pilgrims from the Maiduguri zone, covering Yobe, Borno, Adamawa, and Taraba states, will pay N8.1 million. Pilgrims from other northern states are expected to pay N8.2 million, while those from southern states will pay N8.5 million.
This represents a downward review from the provisional fare of N8.5 million earlier announced pending negotiations with service providers.
Compared to last year, pilgrims will pay an average of N200,000 less in 2026. NAHCON has directed intending pilgrims to complete payments before the deadline of December 31.
Meanwhile, a delegation from the commission currently in Saudi Arabia has finalised agreements with Mashareeq Al-Zahabiyya, the 2026 hajj service provider, and Daleel Al-Ma’aleem, a transportation company.
