Olayemi Cardoso, Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), is scheduled to present the inaugural edition of CBN Governor’s Lecture Series at Lagos Business School (LBS) on Friday.
Gatekeepers News reports that the event, themed “Next Generation Leadership in Monetary Policy & Nation Building,” marks the launch of a thought-leadership programme introduced by the apex bank in partnership with select universities across the country.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the CBN noted that the lecture series will span three years, providing a platform to engage the public on monetary policy issues and their impact on national development.
The bank highlighted that the debut edition also coincides with the second anniversary of Cardoso’s tenure, which it described as a period defined by a renewed focus on price stability, institutional transparency, and aligning monetary policy with the daily realities of Nigerians.
According to CBN, the initiative is part of its Knowledge Acceleration and Thought Leadership Initiative, created to promote dialogue, spark innovation, and build a more inclusive financial system.
Cardoso has consistently emphasised that price stability is at the heart of the bank’s mandate, calling it vital for economic sustainability and the protection of livelihoods.
Speaking at an earlier forum, he observed that Nigeria is currently at a turning point where technology, global financial realignments, and the energy of its youthful population are reshaping its economic future.
He added, “Innovation must be harnessed intentionally and confidently, particularly by institutions like the CBN.”
The maiden lecture is expected to attract high-level participants, including senior government officials, industry experts, academics, and students.
