Victor Osimhen has made history as the first Nigerian player to score 10 goals in the UEFA Champions League (UCL), after netting the decisive strike in Galatasaray’s 1-0 victory over Liverpool on Tuesday night.
Gatekeepers News reports that the 26-year-old forward converted from the penalty spot in the first half at RAMS Park, sending his effort down the middle as Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker dived the wrong way. The penalty was awarded after Dominik Szoboszlai struck Barış Alper Yılmaz in the face.
The goal moved Osimhen past Obafemi Martins to become Nigeria’s all-time top scorer in the UCL (excluding qualification matches). He also set another milestone by becoming the first Nigerian to score for three different clubs in the competition, having previously found the net for Lille and Napoli.

In Italy, Atalanta came from behind to beat Club Brugge 2-1, while Kylian Mbappé struck a hat-trick in Real Madrid’s 5-0 demolition of Kairat, with Eduardo Camavinga and Brahim Díaz also on target.
