Olubadan Meets Sunday Igboho – Promises Intervention In His Travails

The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has met with Yoruba nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, at his Bodija residence, pledging to intervene in his ongoing travails.

Gatekeepers Newreports that a statement from Igboho’s media office, shared with journalists on Wednesday, said the meeting took place on Monday and lasted about 40 minutes. Discussions centered on insecurity in the South West and the reported threats by bandits in parts of Kwara State.

According to sources, Oba Ladoja, who received Igboho and his supporters, assured him that he would wade into issues surrounding his current challenges, including his past declaration as wanted by the Federal Government and the freezing of his bank accounts.

In July 2021, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), supported by Nigerian Army personnel, raided Igboho’s Soka residence, killing two of his aides and arresting 13 others. The Buhari administration had accused him of stockpiling weapons.

During the meeting, Igboho congratulated Oba Ladoja on his ascension to the throne, describing him as “a leader deeply loved by people across Ibadan, Yorubaland, and beyond.”

He also expressed willingness to work with the Federal Government on security in the South West.
“Olubadan has been a father figure to me since his days as the former governor of Oyo State. I commend Kabiyesi’s leadership qualities, humility, and enduring influence. His reign as Olubadan will no doubt further promote peace, unity, and development in Ibadanland and the entire Yorubaland,” Igboho said.
