President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called for religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, stressing that his administration and the country must reject hatred in all forms.

Gatekeepers News reports that speaking on Saturday at the funeral service of Nana Lydia Yilwatda Goshwe, mother of APC National Chairman Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, at the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) headquarters in Jos, Plateau State, Tinubu used his personal life as an example of harmony.

The President explained that he has always been a Muslim, while his wife is a Christian pastor, and their different faiths have never caused division in their marriage.

Tinubu said, “Hate is not an option for us. I was born into Islam and remain a Muslim, but my wife is a pastor who prays for me. There has never been conflict, and I have never attempted to make her change her faith.”

He stressed that mutual respect, love, and understanding are key to national unity, while commending northern church leaders for supporting peace and stability.

The president assured Nigerians of his government’s commitment to protecting religious freedom, promoting inclusivity, and ensuring that no community is excluded because of faith or ethnicity.
