DHQ Begins Disciplinary Action Against 16 Officers Over Misconduct

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced the commencement of disciplinary proceedings against 16 military officers accused of misconduct and violations of service regulations.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement on Saturday, Director of Defence Information, Tukur Gusau, confirmed that the officers had been arrested, adding that investigations were ongoing to determine the extent of their wrongdoing.

He explained that the probe revealed the officers’ grievances were mainly linked to frustrations over career stagnation and repeated failures in promotion exams.

Gusau also disclosed that some of the accused officers were already facing trial or awaiting court-martial for other offences, stressing that their behaviour was inconsistent with military standards.

He said, “Those found guilty after investigations will face the full weight of military disciplinary procedures to ensure accountability and uphold professionalism in the Armed Forces.”

The DHQ assured Nigerians that the move was part of efforts to reinforce discipline, order, and loyalty within the military, warning that actions undermining the institution’s integrity or democratic mandate would not be tolerated.
