Police Sue Activist For Allegedly Cyberstalking Delta Governor

The Delta State Police Command has filed a lawsuit against Fejiro Oliver, a social activist, over alleged cyberstalking of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on social media.

Gatekeepers News reports that Oliver, who was arrested in Abuja in September and later transferred to Delta State, is being prosecuted under the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.

According to court documents filed before the Delta State High Court in Asaba, the police accused the activist of making defamatory Facebook posts between July and August 2025 aimed at tarnishing the governor’s image.

The charge sheet referenced several posts in which Oliver allegedly accused the governor of secretly travelling to Brazil, awarding contracts to cronies for election rigging, and described him as a “sleeping Governor.”

The police said the publications were intended to damage the Governor’s reputation, adding that the offence is punishable under Section 24(2)(c) of the Cybercrime Act.

In addition to Oborevwori, the activist is also accused of cyberstalking Senator Ede Dafinone, who represents Delta Central Senatorial District.

The police alleged that between May and July 2025, Oliver made several posts describing Dafinone as a “sleeping senator,” “POS senator,” and “scammer in NASS,” while also calling for his recall from the Senate.
