La Liga: Sevilla Stun Barcelona With 4–1 Win

Spanish champions Barcelona suffered a 4–1 defeat to Sevilla in their La Liga match on Sunday.

Gatekeepers News reports that former Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez scored against his old club, while Robert Lewandowski missed a penalty that could have brought the visitors back into the game.

The loss, Barcelona’s first this season, leaves them second in the league table, two points behind Real Madrid, who beat Villarreal on Saturday. Sevilla moved up to fourth after the impressive victory.

Sanchez gave Sevilla the lead early in the game from the penalty spot after Ronald Araujo fouled Isaac Romero in the box. Romero, who had missed two earlier chances, made it 2–0 with a clean finish from Ruben Vargas’s pass.

Marcus Rashford pulled one back for Barcelona just before halftime with a volley from Pedri’s cross — his first La Liga goal. However, Barcelona missed a big chance to level the score when Lewandowski sent his penalty wide after Alejandro Balde was fouled.

Sevilla continued to dominate in the second half. Jose Carmona scored their third goal with a low shot past goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, and Akor Adams added a fourth late in the game to seal the win.
